"What I think would be cool is if somebody started a thread there - a 'Michael Jackson's podcasts thread'." Jamon, host of The MJ Cast, episode 125.

Just following instructions!

I've been a long time fan of Michael, the Jackson 5, The Jacksons, Janet and the whole family, but I wasn't aware of the global #MJFam until late last year, when, as I was searching for new podcasts, I thought, "I wonder if there's a podcast about Michael Jackson?" I quickly found The MJ Cast and then discovered a whole world of fans who love Michael as much as I do - it's been a gift that's helped me get through the challenges of 2020, particularly while living under a long lockdown.

My favourite episodes so far are the interviews with Vincent Paterson (what a divine man), Taryll Jackson (gave me goosebumps and tears) and The New Adventures of Charlie Thompson (straight up LOLs - never, ever invite him to a costume party).

I also adore The Black Jackson Estate. I love how honest, real and off-the-cuff they are, and the way they aren't afraid to call things out as they see it.

Damien Shields 'The Genesis of Thriller' is also an exceptional piece of work that made me feel as if I was right there like a fly on the wall with Michael, Quincy and Bruce (rest in peace dear man) in Westlake's Studio A.

I also highly rate JCs Musicology deep dives into both Michael and Janet's work across specific eras - I went down Jam/Lewis rabbit holes after listening and learned so much.

:)

We also have "In The Studio with MJ" the podcast with, and from Brad Sundberg who worked with Michael from Captain EO to Blood On The Dance Floor.

Brad's pod has just launched and seems to be an extension to his original studio tour and workshops.

The first episode is dedicated to, and talks about the late and great Bruce Swedien. Brad talks about his early career joining the team for the Bad album, moving recording and speaker systems between studios and talking about how Bruce worked, how Michael needed the sound and how Brad fitted into the team amongst other things. It's great for any fan, hard or casual and if you're interested in the technical aspects of recording equipment this this is definitely for you.

Poignant as Bruce has only recently departed, this introductory episode is wonderful and I hope the entire show with have lots of insights for years to come.

Absolutely thrilled to learn that Brad Sundberg launched a podcast! I love how the MJ podcast space keeps growing and Brad is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to learn about Michael's creative process.

Just wanted to highlight a podcast that isn't completely dedicated to MJ but is hosted by a fan and has had some great MJ-related guests on: Silent Giants with Corey Cambridge. Corey has interviewed Bob Giraldi (director of Beat It and Say Say Say), Dick Zimmerman (photographer for Thriller album cover), John Bettis (Human Nature songwriter), Vincent Paterson (choreographer), and the late great Bruce Swedien.

Also wanted to give a shout out to the brilliant Michael Jackson's Dream Lives On - if you're interested in academic discussions about Michael's art, listen to their archive. You will approach Michael's work with a different perspective after each episode.

I've tried listening to Michael Jackson's Dream Lives on but I struggle to listen to that, (I have hearing loss - some voices just don't work with me :( ) but It looks like a great pod. I've just noticed they have a bibliography for each podcast on their site so I might use them as a basis for new knowledge :)

Yes, Brad Sundberg's podcast was great and such a lovely tribute to Bruce, I hope he keeps doing them! Thanks for the tips on the other two - I've just listened to the Vincent Paterson episode on Silent Giants and will listen to the others :)

MJmas came today - check out this new episode of The MJ Cast featuring the absolutely delightful TJ Jackson, PLUS a two hour epic deep dive into 'The Invincible Timeline' with the fab ladies of The Black Jackson Estate. Haven't listened to either yet, but I'm pretty excited about having 4 hours of my two favourite podcasts ahead of me!

The only one I've really listened to is the MJCast. I loved the ones with Vincent Paterson, Eddie Garcia (the world's most cheerful man), and any of the episodes with Charles Thomson. The episode posted above is a good 'un. I love the way he explains really complicated legal stuff so clearly and I have no idea how he remembers everything. The 'New Adventures' episode was hilarious. There are probably loads I've forgotten but those are the ones that stand out.

This was a great episode - I love hearing from Taj anytime, I really love the way he normalises and humanises MJ as just an uncle who loved and cared for his family. Chares Thomson is hilarious and brilliant, he's like a deadpan Ricky Gervais type character, and a total warrior for MJ. I also loved the Vincent Paterson episode but I was disappointed Eddie Garcia took a non-commital stance when asked about Wade Robson's allegations, I didn't think it was fair to the man who launched his career and gave him opportunities of a lifetime.

Yeah actually I agree with you there; I loved the Eddie Garcia episode as a whole but that was the one bit that was disappointing to me and it's happened on a couple of other 'special' episodes. It is frustrating to listen to someone talk about how wonderful MJ was as a person for 2/3 hours and then when asked about the allegations they say something like 'well, we'll never know'. If they really had any doubts I don't think they'd have been heaping praise on him for hours so I don't know why they just don't come out and say they don't believe it. It's quite cowardly in my opinion.

This is a great thread! I'm going to add some sort of promotion for this thread around the site today. Other podcasts need to, and should be recognised. There are some fantastic ones out there.

Well done, @Annie_RUOK !

Tell you what. I'm feeling festive - I'm awarding you 'The Glove' badge as a thank you for starting this thread off. *waves wand*

Tito, Jackie, and Marlon are on the latest episode of Questlove Supreme: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/questlove-supreme/id1485250501

Tito has been on the podcast by himself as well. Quite a few MJ collaborators have also been on the show (Greg Phillinganes, Siedah Garrett, Jimmy Jam, Babyface, Boyz II Men, Lenny Kravitz, etc) and they always talk about working with Michael. In fact, Michael often comes up on the show even if the guest hasn't worked with him directly. It's a great podcast for music lovers, one of my favorites. The Jimmy Jam episodes in particular are absolutely incredible, I go back and listen to them often.
