Court Dismissal of Leaving Neverland Accusers for a Third time
To Michael Jackson fans who have been following Wade Robson and James Safechuck’s demands for money from Jackson’s estate over the last eight years, this ruling comes as no surprise. Their financial demands have never had any basis in law and have been tossed out of court at every opportunity by different judges, including a judge who has ruled against the estate in unrelated matters.
These lawsuits are being pursued in vain by showboating lawyers, for the benefit of Dan Reed’s cameras, to be included in a Leaving Neverland sequel. They are nuisance lawsuits, doomed to failure, which serves no purpose other than to waste the court’s time, promote plaintiffs‘ counsel and try to pressure the estate into a settlement to avoid further damaging publicity. We commend the estate’s lawyers for their refusal to buckle and the professionalism with which they have successfully defended these repeated financial demands.
Both mens' persistent efforts to extract hundreds of millions of dollars from Michael Jackson’s posthumous estate have generated a paper trail of public records into the thousands of pages, which catastrophically undermine and damage their allegations. They reveal frequent contradictions, serial dishonesty and repeated efforts to conceal evidence which does not support their claims.
It is an indictment of the media that upon the release of Leaving Neverland in 2019, it largely chose to unquestioningly amplify these men’s allegations without making any effort to obtain and scrutinise this wealth of publicly available court material.
Had the media done its job, instead of acting as a compliant megaphone for one side in a financially motivated legal battle, it might have seen this week’s ruling coming, as Jackson’s fans did. We are not afraid of these court documents.
We invite the public to seek them out and familiarise themselves with them, rather than relying on a media which has for decades devoted its enormous resources to promoting biased and inaccurate disinformation about Michael Jackson.
